10 Best Desert Safaris in Dubai in 2025 (Personally Tested)

Author: Balázs Sipos — Owner & Author

Dubai is unambiguously the best destination when it comes to desert safaris, but there’s one problem: with more than 100 different companies, 45+ desert camps and numerous rental places there are simply too many to choose from!

Each tour promises a great experience, and with so many variables, the decision can be difficult. The stakes are high, no one wants a poor choice to ruin an otherwise unforgettable vacation, especially in a city like Dubai, which for many is a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Each safari has tens of thousands of glowing reviews, so the most reliable way to rank them was to experience them all.

I'm the only one who, after extensive research, handpicked the best safari tours, embarked on a journey and personally tested all of them anonymously, funded from my own pocket, and now offer a completely independent and objective review, backed with real photos and videos.

This guide helps you find the perfect desert adventure in Dubai with an incredibly detailed rundown of my findings.

Let’s make sure your trip is unforgettable, and let me help you avoid the mistakes I made to save you money and enjoy the best safari experience without any regrets.

💡 Tip: Extras like quad biking, buggy rides, and dinner add-ons are often 100-400% more expensive if booked on-site. For the best value, always book the full package in advance for everything you intend to use during the safari.

Is It Worth Trying A Desert Safari in Dubai?

Absolutely yes.
When I visited Dubai back in 2019, the one thing I truly regretted missing was the desert safari. Everyone I spoke to about Dubai described it as one of their absolute best experiences.
Now with numerous safaris under my belt, i see clearly it was a great miss and I can not emphasize enough going on a desert safari at least once is a must.

Dubai Desert Safari Itinerary

Most Dubai desert safaris follow a similar itinerary, traveling the same road from the city to the desert. I’ve created a brief summary at the end of this article highlighting the main sights you can see during this journey.

Another section Decodes Dubai Desert Safaris. Where you can learn among others:

  • The differences between sunrise, morning, and evening safaris (duration, activities included, food)
  • The distinction between Quad or Camel safaris and the Quad biking or Camel riding experiences during a safari.
  • The difference between private vs. shared safaris and red vs. white desert safaris.

You'll also find a Standard Features section, highlighting aspects that are consistent across most desert safaris.

And last but not least, I give you full insight into how I evaluated the safaris. In case something isn't straightforward there is a short description how the article is structured.

For easy navigation, feel free to use the table of contents on the left side.

Summary & Review — How Was It and What to Expect?

💡 Tip: Most safaris have a generous cancellation policy, allowing a full refund if canceled 24 hours before the activity. Additionally, they offer a reserve now, pay later flexible payment scheme. During holy month and off season (May-September) special discounts are available.

Excursion Point may not dominate the travel booking and review platforms, but in the desert, they quietly deliver something exceptional.

They orchestrated the most complete and satisfying safari experience I had in Dubai.

Their team was consistently kind and generous: via their 24/7 customer service, on the meeting point, and in the desert as well. Our guide humble, attentive, and warm, he cared for each of us like we were royalty with genuine presence and attention.

No pressure to upsell or beg for reviews. Just a clear mindset: earn your praise, don’t ask for it.

They shine where it matters: the schedule run with Swiss precision, the infrastructure are spotless, the activities are thrilling yet always safety-first, and the evening show rivaled if not surpassed even those offered by luxury camps.

Excursion Point's itinerary is carefully crafted to ensure every moment is filled with adventure. I had the best overall sandboarding experience with them, their buggy adventure is terrific, and the small details like cleaning our clothes after the desert is designed for an unforgettable experience.

If you only book one desert safari in Dubai, i recommend to book this one. No fine print, no hesitation.

Maybe this sounds like a hard sell but they’ve earned every word. The breakdown below shows why.

Detailed Breakdown — Before the Safari

Hotel Pickup

  • Right after booking the desert safari, the company (Excursion Point) sent confirmation via GetYourGuide. A clear pickup time & location, a summary of what’s included, a responsive WhatsApp contact, and a list of what to bring for the safari.
  • They handled special requests (like upgrading from quad to buggy which was not by default an option on the booking app) quickly, flexibly, and with total professionalism.
  • Scheduled for 2:45 PM, and the driver arrived at 2:44, perfectly on time and left a great first impression!

Car

The car was a Nissan Patrol, what I found it very comfortable thanks to the softer suspension during my safaris.
  • The features include USB outlets, ice-cold air conditioning, Wi-Fi via the guide's hotspot, and clean interiors.
Upon arrival, only the back row seat was available, which I took to test different seating positions.
  • (Spoiler alert: the back row is not the most comfortable spot for a 190 cm, 90 kg guy.) Luckily at the back row there are always only 2 person so I could use the middle space to get into a comfortable position.

*All safari vehicles used by the reviewed companies are less than 6 years old and driven by licensed desert guides. While all perform reliably, reviews on this site often highlight differences in suspension comfort, cleanliness, and engine power between providers.

Driver Behavior

The driver stepped out of the car to greet me with a huge smile. In the car he informed us in advance even about the upcoming briefing, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Ismail our perfect guide who never rested during our Dubai Desert Safari

He was the first GUIDE on any of my tours who truly deserved the title and was not just a chauffer. From start to finish, he stood out.

  • Shared engaging facts about: Population,️ Architecture,️ Social structure,️ Nature & wildlife,️ History
  • Explained Dubai’s three desert colors (white, brown, red) and how they formed
  • Used his Arabic knowledge and logical thinking to clarify details
  • Answered every question confidently and accurately
  • Kept the mood light with humor and a friendly tone from the start

💯 I even fact-checked him and of course he nailed it!

Number of stops/ duration

I was the last person to be picked up. Besides me, there were two other groups: two French women and a Portuguese family of three. Since I was the last, we headed straight to the first meeting point.

During the briefing, I was told I’d be the first to be dropped off at the end of the tour -great news!

Delays or waiting time

There were absolutely no delays or waiting times throughout the 7-hour tour, which is almost miraculous!

Distance and travel time (1 hour )

  • The roughly 90 km drive took about 60 minutes. If you're curious about the sights along the way, I’ve written more details about them here.
  • Thanks to the interesting commentary, the ride flew by. It only started to get a bit uncomfortable in the back row after about 55 minutes right before we arrived to our first stop at the meeting point.

First Desert Stop: Quad / Buggy meeting point (1 hour)

Excursion Point uses a private quad rental place (while some smaller companies doesn't have their own, so the quality can vary)
  • The meeting point for Excursion Point is one of the highest quality I've found. It features spotlessly clean restrooms, lush green grass, an air-conditioned indoor area with traditional Dubai scarves and clothing for sale, and a fleet of brand-new quads and well-maintained buggies.
Buggy Experience - Is it Worth it to upgrade? How was it?

The buggy ride is the highlight of the desert experience, offering far more power and safety than quad bikes, but this is also reflected in the price. The buggy experience is completely different from riding a quad but it is highly dependent on your guide ( speed, route, group )

  • 4x size engine than quad 1000cc engines vs. 250cc quads
  • Huge suspension travel, effortlessly flying over dunes
  • 45 minutes total (30 min ride, 10 min photo stop, 5 min talk)
  • The guide ensured group safety and cohesion
  • When I tested the limits, I got a firm warning and for me the journey nearly stopped (I was a bad, bad boy).
  • Safety is top priority. In emergencies, helicopters are the only option because standard vehicles can't access the desert.
  • Unexpected bonus: Since im an experienced buggy rider, after showing understanding, they offered me an extra 5-minute solo ride with another guide. It turned into a 15-minute thrill session with higher speed, making the whole experience even more unforgettable.

Buggy Pricing

  • Standard on-site price: 800 AED (€200) for 30 minutes
  • Online deals: As low as 320 AED (~€80) on GetYourGuide (Book in advance to save big!)
  • Is it worth it? For 320 AED (~€80) is a no brainer and gives you a once in a lifetime experience for the on-site prices is more considerable. We spent about an hour here and before heading into the desert at 17:00, we grabbed some water and made a quick stop for bathroom and refreshment needs.

Detailed Breakdown — During The Safari

Dune Bashing Experience (20 minutes intense + 10 minutes light ride)

Our convoy from our car

Driving Style and Safety

Ismail delivered a brutally fun ride. Before we started he checked if everyone has the seatbelt on but after he really pushed the gas. The suspension could handle every ups and downs , but since the two heaviest guests were seated in the back, there were a few solid bumps.

Vehicle Handling

The tires were fully deflated before the ride, almost completely flat, this makes the big turns safe, just like they did at Ammar Tours.

Why to deflate tyres? Completely deflated tires: Increasing surface area--> Enhancing traction-->Smoothing the ride

📸 Falcon Photo in the Open Desert

A Majestic Memory… With a Tiny Risk: Snapping a photo with a falcon in the open desert? Totally worth it.

These birds are absolute legends: calm, beautifully trained, and surprisingly photogenic. But here’s the thing no one tells you: falcons eat… and falcons poop. 😅

That's being said my favorite Shirt didn’t survive the encounter. I walked away with a unique souvenir in a lovely white-greenish shade, right across my shoulder. (No worries, I’ve mostly forgiven the bird.) At least I got a great photo and a story to tell.

The photo op usually costs around 20 AED (~5 EUR), and yes, you can pay by credit card. 💳 Just maybe don’t wear your Sunday best. 😄🦅

Sandboarding (10 min)

This is how Standing Sandboarding looks

Right after my unforgettable falcon encounter, I headed straight to the sandboarding spot. For safety reasons, they initially didn’t want me to go standing—but Ismail (my honorary stepdad by this point) made it happen anyway. 💪

Murphy’s Law struck: after nailing every standing ride on previous safaris, this was the time I fell. My shirt didnt get cleaner from this :D

This is how "Not so standing" Sandboarding looks

The guides were incredibly patient and actually took time to explain how to ride sitting down, what no one else had done before. So i gave the sitting style a try and surprise! I had the fastest longest and smoothest ride without fall! There is always a small competition for the longest ride amongst the group members and until the very end i held the top spot! 🏅 So if you leave in a desert arrive prepared! :P

📝 Sandboarding Tips:

  • 📱 Always hand over your phone before sliding.
  • 👖 Don’t keep anything in your pockets that could be damaged by sand.
  • 🏃 Even if you're a pro, the walk back up the dune will guarantee sand in your shoes!

Photo Stop (5 min)

After sandboarding, the group still spent 5 minutes taking photos. Our guide proactively assisted to capture fun and memorable shots. At this point I was busy with other things, so most of my shots are falcon focused from here.

Inflating area (10 Minutes)

After another 10 minutes of dune bashing, which was less intense than the first, we returned to the tyre inflation point. There’s a small shop where you can buy extra snacks or drinks if needed; I usually grabbed a coconut here.

As a thoughtful extra, the team cleaned the sand from our shoes. They did a solid job, but of course, Ismail went above and beyond—making sure even my shirt was in the best shape possible after the falcon “incident.” These are the little extras you don’t get on every tour.

Detailed Breakdown — After The Safari (3 hours)

The Desert Camp

Right from the first glance, it was clear that this place was on another level.

Once inside, the standard only went up. During high season, the “skip the line” separate entrance could be a real time-saver.

This is the Arabian Adventures camp, a company that may not lead the market in safari execution, but unsurprisingly for an Emirates Group brand—they truly excel when it comes to the camp experience: Top quality, cleanliness, and extra features throughout.

There were things I hadn’t seen at any other camp, like a football and badminton court.
The small shops were tastefully designed, with desert-style huts and even cozy rug-covered open stalls, like the one for henna tattoos.
Seating was arranged on floor cushions atop slightly raised platforms—high enough to meet hygiene standards but still offering an authentic desert-on-the-ground vibe.
Aperol Lounge

Scattered around the clean and tidy landscape were more chillout areas with sun loungers, tables, and campfires.

Gigantic selfie mirror

The enormous fortress-style camp included selfie mirrors for instagram shots, various vendor stations, and of course, a camel ride area.

🐫 Camel riding

This was by far the most comfortable saddle I experienced.

I’m no expert in camel riding, but here I didn’t hit my back at all when the camel stood up or sat down, and the padding was really comfortable throughout.

🌇 Sunset

The Fortress offers impressive views during sunset

The dunes beside the camp were impressively tall, even though this was already the white-sand desert.

They were beautifully lit with string lights, offering a magical view, perfect for sunset watching.

Nearby, you’ll find the Aperol Spritz bar, complete with beanbags that give the area a laid-back summer-evening feel.

Desert BBQ Dinner

A small room for improvement: the Heineken bar.
Guests received two drink tokens valid for carbonated soft drinks. Water was unlimited and complimentary.

However, alcohol, juices, or extra soft drinks required payment.

Wide choice of selection of pipes,
...and flavours.
Spotless Grill Zone
The food was delicious and just the right amount of choices.

The Show Experience (1,5 hours)

Tanoure

The show began with a Tanoura dance

Beautifully staged with professional lighting and high-quality sound equipment, which made the music much more immersive.

After Tanoura show the dessert was served

Simple but surprisingly not overly sweet. It complemented the dinner well on that evening, though I could imagine missing fresh fruit on another night.

At 8:20 PM, the belly dance performance began.

She was the most skilled dancer I saw out of all the tours I attended.

Although not an authentic traditional dance, it fit the vibe perfectly

it was fun that she engaged the audience as well.

This show lasted about 10 minutes.

a deeply impressive fire show.

Then came the grand finale:
Four professional performers wowed the crowd for a full 20 minutes, first inside the camp, then moving outside for the climax—a spectacular finish that left us goose bumped and speechless.

Epic grand finale!

We left the camp on an emotional high, full of amazing memories and recharged energy.

Return Journey

Even on the way back, our guide didn’t treat it like the job was done—he kept spirits high with funny stories and more interesting facts.
The return drive to the city was slightly faster, taking about 50 minutes, so by 10 PM, you could already be showered and ready to dive into bed—or continue your evening adventure.

The small tip was really greatfully received and i felt that i lest the experience with new friends, and ever lasting memories.

Overall, my experience with FunTours was amazingly positive. They truly have a "customer comes first" attitude, and it’s thanks to this that I ended up choosing the morning safari over the evening one. more about this in the detailed section.

They are very attentive and responsive in communication. What I also liked, noone ever pushed me at any stops (sales, reviews, etc.). This is something that sets them apart from their competitors. My impression was extremely good, and perhaps they were the most thorough when it came to the free photos. Our guide assisted us throughout, helping with settings and being very patient. At the Quad, they even took videos while we were moving, which no one else did. The camel ride guide also made sure to take photos of everything. So, I wholeheartedly recommend them.

However, a few small oversights, which would seem simple to fix from the outside, did slightly overshadow the experience. For example, there was sand on the back seat, but it was immediately addressed. Also, despite being late, we still needed to stop to fill the tank, which can happen of course, so it didn’t spoil the overall experience. I did get the feeling they were almost trying too hard to eliminate the chance of anyone not having a good time. They delivered what was promised in their very detailed and accurate listing, and all things considered, it was an excellent alternative. Among morning safaris, it truly stood out.

Detailed Breakdown — Before the Safari

Hotel Pickup

  • Immediately after the booking (FunTours) they get in touch with me via WhatsApp, sent the pickup time & location, and the most important things to know about the safety.
  • Since my flight from Abu Dhabi was scheduled 4 hours after my return, the logistics would have been difficult to manage if we returned later than planned. Nothing demonstrates better that they’re not looking out for their own interests than the fact that they immediately suggested I go for the shorter program, even though it meant less revenue for them. They’re not just focused on making a sale but are genuinely committed to ensuring you have a great experience, even after you’ve paid and participated in their safari.
  • Originally scheduled for 7:45-8:15 am, the pickup was adjusted to 8:15-8:45 am, with the driver arriving at 8:49, slightly later than planned.

Car

Features: USB outlets, a guide's hotspot for Wi-Fi, AC and comfortable chairs.
  • The Toyota Land Cruiser is renowned for its robust 4x4 capabilities, spacious interior, and reliability, making it ideal for desert terrain.
However, there was some sand on the back seat, which our chauffeur promptly addressed, so it didn't cause any inconvenience.

Driver Behavior

The driver was really humble and friendly and interested already from the first moment.

He was the first guide on any of my tours who truly deserved the title and was not just a chauffer. From start to finish, he stood out.

He shared engaging stories and facts, creating a lively atmosphere. While not as detailed as the Excursion Point guide, he was still outstanding and compensated with really careful and patient photo sessions. Perhaps thanks to our small group as well (we were 4 people this time), he made us feel the tour was truly personalized.

Number of stops/ duration

We picked up one group a family of three from Sweden , at the Kempinski Hotel only 15 minutes away from my hotel without any further delay.

Delays or waiting time

There was a small stop at the petrol station to fill the car, but besides this the tour was intelligently planned. E.g.: The guide utilized our activities to take care of tyre deflation.

Distance and travel time (60 min)

  • Both the passengers from Sweden and our guide were really open and interested, making the roughly 90 km drive pass quickly.

First Desert Stop: Al badayer motorcycle rental

  • The quad rental area features a small market for traditional clothing, a buffet for cold drinks and snacks, and a separate ticket sales building.
  • The air-conditioned room offered a comfortable place to rest, with cushions and foam for relaxation. The men's restroom was clean, though it only had a squat toilet. ( I didn't see the women's restroom)

📸 Falcon Photo

The falcon interaction was also complimentary here unlike other tours.

🐫 Camel riding

The camels here did not have muzzles

The guide placed a strong emphasis on photography as well. He took more than 40 pictures in various poses.

Detailed Breakdown — During The Safari

By the time we finished the camel ride, Yaseen, our guide, had already deflated the tires for better grip and was waiting for us in our 4x4 Toyota to start the dune bashing.

The impossible angels and curves were not missing here either

Dune Bashing Experience (15 minutes moderate + 10 minutes light ride)

The mother in our group was hesitant about dune bashing due to a past experience, but the driver expertly balanced safety and fun, ensuring she felt comfortable while the rest of us enjoyed the ride. Of course, the experience could have been wilder if we had requested it, but this was one of the moments where we really felt the tour was personalized to us.

Desert Photo shooting (10 min)

We spent about 10 minutes on the photo shoot.

Our guide very proactively assisted us.
We also took some group photos.

Sandboarding (10 min)

Our guide waxed the boards, helped everyone start, and ensured photos and videos were taken of each participant.

On the positive side, the exit from the desert also included dune bashing, not just a quick departure. On the other side I missed the high-pressure air cleaning at the inflation spot. (I guess you can always ask for it). Nevertheless, FunTours shares the same area with Ammar Tours and Dream Journey, for dune bashing.

Quad Biking Ride (30 min + extra)

When we returned to the starting point, the highlight of our tour began: the quad experience.

The vehicle fleet was well-maintained, clean, and nearly new.
  • To my delight, we got the most powerful quads of all the tours 450cc Suzukis.
The operator uses only full-face masks (the safest options)
  • Safety was emphasized, and after the briefing, we were given full-face masks. As they protect not just the top of the head, but also the face, jaw, and chin in case of a fall or collision  they are the safest option.
Riding a quad through the open desert is an incredible feeling. It’s a bit scary at first, but nothing compares to the sense of freedom it gives you.

They also explained how to handle the quads. My first quad had a loose grip, but as soon as I pointed it out, I was given a replacement, and we headed out into the open desert.

The pace was slow at first (due to two inexperienced riders), so I drifted a bit, but the guide saw that it wasn’t my first quad experience, and I was happy to help when the others got stuck. We agreed that if I behaved, I’d get an extra lap at the end.

We had a short stop in the middle, when we took some photos and also with a falcon

📸 Falcon Photo in the Open Desert

The second falcon photoshoot in the open desert.

Dubai is always hot, and the desert is no exception. While driving through the dunes, we spotted a man in white, in the middle of the desert with a falcon. He approached us and clearly explained that the photo would incur an extra charge, which our guide also emphasized, stating that it wasn’t mandatory. At first, I didn’t plan to take the photo, but seeing how much attention he gave to positioning the falcon in various poses and locations while photographing the family, I was convinced and eventually decided to go for it. The photo costed around 24 AED (~6 EUR), and I paid by credit card. 💳

FOTÓ

Once we continued our journey, our guide took pictures and videos of us while riding. This was an extra service we didn't receive anywhere else, and he captured some really great shots, all for free.

At the end, due to the slow pace, I received a bonus round just with the guide, during which we covered more distance in a much shorter time than during the entire previous ride.

Vendor interaction:

Vendor Area

The guide, Yaseen, continuously made sure that the ghutra (scarf) on my head was properly adjusted. So other than bringing us the menu, there were not a lot interaction with the vendors of the .

Detailed Breakdown — After The Safari

Return Journey

Comfy sofas and ice-cold AC to rest and refresh after the safari

On return from the desert, we had some refreshments in the air-conditioned rooms and left for our hotel at 12:42 pm. Since we had to drop passengers off at the Dubai Mall, I arrived back at 14:00. Fortunately, it wasn’t too late, but it was significantly later than I initially planned. The actual duration was closer to 5 hours than 4, thanks to them ensuring we had the full experience and taking the time for every activity and photo stop plus, maybe my bonus time contributed too! :D I really enjoyed the smaller group experience. The complimentary photoshoots were the best among all the tours I experienced!! I can 100% recommend FunTours for their exceptional guide and attention to every small detail. FunTour's flexibility with the quads was particularly impressive. Riding 400cc quads through the desert was an unforgettable experience.

💡 Tip: Most safaris have a generous cancellation policy, allowing a full refund if canceled 24 hours before the activity. Additionally, they offer a reserve now, pay later flexible payment scheme. During holy month and off season (May-September) special discounts are available.

OceanAir Travels dominates travel booking and review platforms with an impressive 100,000+ reviews and an average 4.9-star rating and it's no accident. Established in 2007, the company has become one of the biggest names in the Dubai safari industry, and you can feel that it’s a large, well-structured operation from the moment the tour begins. Their high standards, professional organization, and well-trained staff, backed by the experience of tens of thousands of safaris, ensure a smooth, polished experience with attention to every detail:

  • Water and soft drinks were always readily available
  • There’s a clearly defined quality baseline they consistently meet. My guide was funny, engaging, and informative.

OceanAir also offers one of the widest selections of activities, including rare extras like horseback riding and stargazing with a telescope — beyond all the usual ones. However, this abundance can sometimes work against them. With so many options packed into one evening, not everything gets the time or attention it deserves and i had to prioritize.

The same goes for the food: while the buffet offered the widest variety I encountered, I felt that a bit more focus on quality over quantity would elevate the overall dining experience.

While they promote their tours as semi-private, the reality felt a bit more commercial. At each meeting point, we saw multiple OceanAir vehicles and large crowds, even though it was off-season. And the last minor downside: not just the service, but the price point is above average too.

Without these small drawbacks, they might have landed first place on my list, thanks to the best horseback riding experience of my life, the amazing food selection, thrilling activities, great vibes and their Quality Manager system what ensures feedback is addressed quickly and professionally, they’ve fully earned the prestigious third place.

OceanAir delivers high-quality tours and is extremely unlikely to disappoint. So, if you’re someone who values professionalism, consistency, peace of mind, and the variety of choices OceanAir is my top recommendation.

Detailed Breakdown — Before the Safari

OceanAir cars are nicely decorated
  • Clear communication via WhatsApp from the guest relations team: Tour details were sent in advance, since i chose horse riding option as well , including specific clothing guidelines for it (e.g. long pants like jeans or breeches, no shorts, and closed shoes). A live location was also shared 5 minutes before pickup, making coordination easy and stress-free.

  • The car was a Nissan Patrol, nice and new ad a phone charger and portable Wi-Fi, but these were not guaranteed, more of a nice gesture from the driver.

Driver Behavior

  • Our driver Adi, was polite, attentive and professional, though not very talkative.

Number of stops/ duration

  • Pickup started at 14:36, took 24 minutes total to pick up everyone. I was picked up first, sat in the front seat, which I later gave up for a passenger with motion sickness.
  • The car was full, and I unexpectedly joined a company team-building group (6 passengers total in our car and an other car).

Delays or waiting time (10 min)

We had a slight delay due to the group pickup but nothing extraordinary.

Distance and travel time (1 hour)

  • We started at 15:00 and arrived at 16:00 to OceainAir travel's own meeting point. If you're curious about the sights along the way, I’ve written more details about them here.
  • Thanks to the engaging company, we used this hour to get to know each other a bit with the group.

First Desert Stop: Quad / Buggy meeting point (1,5 hour)

OceanAir’s private quad area is undeniably one of the best in terms of setup and convenience. It features excellent facilities like :

A mini market, where i bought my Ghutra and Agal.
clean container restrooms
a rest area with shadow and cushions
Dates are really good natural sweeteners for coffee and tea
  • Guests are welcomed with coffee, tea, dates, and there’s always cold water and soft drinks available.
Water and Soft drinks with ice
  • Extras like Arabic calligraphy and falcon photo opportunities .
Arabic calligraphy jewelleries
a mist fan, which feels incredibly refreshing after a hot quad ride.
  • While it’s not the most modern setup, they’ve clearly thought of everything.

Quad Ride Experience ( 30 min )

The helmets collction

After the safety briefing, my guide brought me a helmet from their massive collection, including full-face helmets, which are the safest option.

The area is huge butclearly limited with the fences around

The quad ride takes place in a large but fenced area. On the plus side, you can ride at your own pace and adjust your route to match your skills!

While it’s technically in the desert, it doesn’t quite deliver the “true desert” feeling however on photos it looks real. The zone is monitored by staff enforcing safety, asking guests to slow down or stop drifting if needed. This helps prevent accidents. Given the high number of participants, the area can feel crowded, especially in the afternoon and I went off-season (late May).

After just 5–10 minutes, I was told my time was up, but when I mentioned it to my guide, Adi quickly stepped in and sorted it out. I was able to continue riding, and in the end got around 30 minutes of real ride time, very close to the promised 35 minutes. Big plus for him!

17:00–17:30 – Break time (30 min)

They made sure that the cold complimentary refreshments are constantly available

The shaded, air-conditioned shop
Professional photo during Quad biking

During the break, the shop vendors approached us. They weren't overly aggressive but certainly gave us the opportunity to make a purchase. I ended up buying a professional photo of myself during the quad biking, which cost 40 AED.

Detailed Breakdown — During The Safari (1,5 hours)

Dune Bashing Experience (15 + 15 minutes intense ride)

The OceanAir convoy cross the desert with speed and commanding authority.

Driving Style and Safety

The dune bashing was fun and felt safe, with seatbelts required for all passengers.

The driver struck a great balance between thrill and caution. The girls were screaming with excitement, but no one felt sick.

Tire pressure was actively adjusted during the ride to match the terrain, which added to both safety and comfort.

Sandboarding (17:45-18:00 15 min)

The guide actively helped everyone get started by giving a push on the sandboard.

In my case, I tipped over while sitting, ending up covered in sand.

⚠️ Learn from my mistake! Important tip: Phones and cameras can easily fall, get lost, or fill with sand during the ride. It’s not recommended to sandboard with devices don't forget to hand them to someone before sliding.

📸 Photo Stop (18:00 - 18:30, 30 min)

The ordinary group photo went quite smooth

This break included group photos, jumping shots, and time to relax.

what we can not say about the jumping ones...:D
There was even a refreshment station set up in the middle of the desert

Something I haven’t seen offered by any other company during similar tours.

Detailed Breakdown — The Camp after The Safari (3 hours)

At the entrance a receptionist was keeping an eye on order
  • At 18:45. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed.
with freshly brewed mint and milk tea and Arabic coffee, all prepared over an open fire.
  • The oasis style camp's ambience was authentic, with Arabic music, traditional tents, and soft lighting creating a warm, inviting setting.
  • A Quality Manager was present throughout — helping guests, monitoring the experience, and keeping everyone informed.
We always had someone to turn to with questions or issues.
  • A loudspeaker announcement system made it easy to follow the schedule and know what’s coming up next.

Horse Riding

Horseback riding was an absolute highlight

After a short briefing, I went horseback riding, which turned out to be an incredible experience, one of the best I’ve ever had. The horse, Rose, was perfectly trained. I’ve tried several horseback rides before, but she was by far the most well-behaved and responsive horse I’ve ridden.

She followed the route almost entirely on her own. A private guide accompanied us, but the ride felt smooth and effortless.

💡 Tip: To get the best price for horse riding, it's advisable to book in advance along with other activities like quad rides that you plan to do during your Dubai Desert safari.

The ride lasted about 30 minutes, so I missed the first show. Based on what others said, I didn’t miss much, while in return I got a lifelong memory for 30 EUR (120 AED). The ride was advertised as 20 minutes, but fortunately it lasted a bit longer.

Dinner

The food area, during dinner time all the counters were overflowing with food.

By the time i finished the riding the buffet was already open.

The food was tasty and flavorful. not fine dining, but the variety was impressive. Everything was fresh and well-cooked.

Grill selection

While eating you are entertained by the shows. If I hadn’t seen so many other shows before, this would have fully satisfied me. But since I now have a broad basis for comparison, i give a honest review:

The shows felt more like a nice add-on to the dining experience, rather than standalone highlights. It’s hard to truly rate them on their own, and there are a few reasons for that:

A nice zoomed in photo from my seating perspective about the show
  1. We were seated quite far from the stage, so we didn’t feel fully immersed.
  2. While the loudspeakers were useful for organizing the crowd, the audio quality wasn’t great for enjoying music or live performances.
Even the closest tents are quite far from the stage.

Overall, it felt like they made sure to include everything, the fire show, for example, was fun and the performer did a great job, but it didn’t aim to be the best show in town.

From this distance it was impossible to take quality shots with a phone or gopro

It felt more like a box-ticking element rather than a deeply emphasized entertainment piece, unlike in some premium camps.

Traditional Clothing

Traditional clothing is also complimentary

🐫 Camel riding

Thanks to the beautiful lightning around the area the spot is great for photos
The lights aren't just perfect for photos, they also create an amazing atmosphere
The guides are proactive to take photos and they know how to do it.

🐫 Camel feeding

It’s a surprisingly intimate moment when you feed the baby camels.

Shisha

If you smoke shisha in the common are its complimentary

Desert

My favourite was the fruit bowl

Of course, like everything with OceanAir, the variety was extensive.

Star Gazing

The telescopes are a nice add-on, but personally, they didn’t add much for me

The telescope was pointed at a single star, which I could see larger through the lens, but honestly, it wasn’t exactly a wow moment.

Return Journey

On the way back, everyone was already pretty tired. Our guide asked for feedback from the group but was not too pushy. The vibes were still good all the way until we arrived. I was the first to get dropped off at my hotel and said goodbye to my new Dubai friends. After all the hype, adrenaline, and a big meal, the whole group was in chill mode so it was a calm and relaxed ride back.

Summary & Review — How Was It and What to Expect?

💡 Tip: The quad experience at Ammar Tours is one of the best, plus the place is not the nicest area to stay during the day, so I highly recommend including the quad biking option in the tour. For the best price, always book in advance.

Ammar Tours: While Ammar Tours is the biggest competitor of Oceain Air in terms of review numbers (more than 30K just on Getyourguide all 5 stars) , the concept they represent is the complete opposite.

Ammar Tours' Dubai Desert Safari is significantly more affordable. Even with quad biking included roughly at the same price level as OceanAir without that option.

While OceanAir aims to include everything in the package Ammar focuses on delivering top quality in a few key areas:

  • On the positive side Ammar delivered the most thrilling dune bashing
  • and provided open desert quad biking by default what felt really free.
  • The fastest sandboarding experience,
  • plus the fire-show was noticeably better than at OceainAir.

I arrived at the safari feeling pretty exhausted, but the adrenaline rush was so intense that I completely forgot my tiredness.

Room for improvements: driver's slightly overly sporty driving style and occasional phone use, which added to the adrenaline but not in a good way.

Besides this several smaller elements, were missing for this price like:

  • traditional clothing, camel feeding, dates to the coffee and tea, star gazing telescope, welcome coffee and sweets, horse riding option etc.

However, these elements are not essential for a safari, they certainly enhance the overall experience. The value that OceanAir offers for the higher price is clear.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ammar Tours to those seeking a budget-friendly option filled with adrenaline and fun!

Hotel Pickup

Comfortable and clean
  • The booking process was straightforward. I booked the safari for 15:15, and they informed me that the pick-up would be between 14:45 and 15:15.

Car

A phone charger and hotspot from the guide were also available.
  • The car was a Toyota Land Cruiser, with a spotless interior, although the windshield had a minor crack.
Visible crack on the bottom right side of the Windshield

Driver Behavior

  • The driver Muhammad, didn't provide the car color, plate number, or share the location like other drivers, only notifying me of his arrival time (14:50). But he arrived 5 minutes early. 👏 But his communication style totally changed when we met. He was talkative, warm, and made the pickup feel like the start of a fun road trip with a friend.

Number of stops/ duration

  • There was one additional pickup, a friendly family of five, with just a short 10-minute detour. Since I was the first, I got the front seat again.

Delays or waiting time (10 min)

The family was German, so obviously no delays 🇩🇪⏱️.

However, we had to stop at a petrol station to fill the car, which took about 10 minutes.

Distance and travel time (1 hour)

  • We started at 15:05 and arrived at 16:08 to Ammar Tours' own meeting point.
  • Our guide remained friendly, kind, and approachable. However, as a professional driver, his occasionally sporty maneuvers on the road could feel reckless. Additionally, typing on the phone did not enhance the feeling of safety.

First Desert Stop: Quad / Buggy meeting point (1 hour)

Ammar Tours’ quad rental meeting point is no exception to the company’s minimalist, no-frills approach.

Don’t expect fancy air-conditioned facilities or brand-new, high-end gears.

There is a mini market with all necessary things

Plus a shop to buy tickets but other then these the area is quite empty.

Quad Ride Experience ( 30 min )

Instead, what you get is exactly what matters a practical setup with quick access to the open desert, where the guides won’t micromanage your every move. It’s all about giving you the freedom to ride.

Mohammed was really helpful here as well, helped with the helmets, and even with my go-pro.

The German family hadn’t booked the quad option in advance, so they had to pay a higher price, but it was still absolutely worth it. The mother, who was really nervous at first, got patient guidance from the staff and ended up enjoying the ride as much as her son, who used only two wheels at times.

After the safety briefing, we headed straight into the open desert. Our guide made sure we followed his lead and stayed safe from other bikers and buggies. He didn’t try to control us, which made the experience truly adrenaline-packed.

Our guide was proactive to photoshoot us

After 12 minutes driving we stopped for 10 minutes to take photos. Our Quad Guide made many photos in such a short time and then we drove an other 15 minutes before arrived back.

One of the result of his talent

What I really admired was how well he balanced the needs of total beginners and experienced riders, making sure everyone had a great time.

Dune Bashing Experience (20 + 15 minutes crazy ride)

The safety of the convoy allowed us to go full throttle

Driving Style and Safety

This dune bashing was the craziest of all, with of course seatbelts required for all passengers.

The ride was so thrilling that, if you didn’t know our guide was a trained expert chauffeur, you might easily worry about what’s coming at the next turn or dune peak. But he had total control. Thanks to the fully deflated tires and the added safety of traveling in a convoy, we managed incredibly short braking distances, steep climbs, and sharp drops that felt like they defied the laws of physics.

It was clear that our guide loved what he was doing and this kind of passion sets apart the best from the rest. His enjoyment sticked with his passangers as well! He was definitely a first-class driver, but riding on the edge always comes with well-calculated risks. I personally felt totally safe, but based on my many dune bashing experiences and some reactions from fellow passengers, I’m sure some people might find this ride a bit too intense or even reckless, especially those who has motion sickness. This first part included 20 minutes pure ride.

Sandboarding (17:10-17:30 20 min)

Muhammed actively helped everyone to get started by giving a push

and made sure the boards are waxed ( to slide even better) .

I think having fun is in the genes of Ammar Tours, so naturally, we stopped at the highest dune, allowing me to experience my fastest Sandboarding ride among all safaris.

📸 Photo Stop

This sandboarding break included photo shoots as well.

I had no idea how to pose but Muhammed worked his magic like a true pro!

Thanks to my lovely travel companion, the unrealistically beautiful shot was captured right here which is featured at the top of the article: Dubai 2025.

The Camp

Al Jabal village, perfectly fits into the philosophy of Ammar tours.

No frills no fancy facilities, but it brings what it needs.

The place felt clean and well-kept

with proper restrooms and even a shower available.

The kids' top pick? Definitely the ice cream stand.
Shisha- according to my group mates, even better than in some downtown lounges.

There was no stargazing or birthday celebration, but the shisha was excellent.

No pushy sales talk here, only a genuinely friendly and respectful seller.
The surrounding high dunes make a perfect spot to catch the sunset.

🐫 Camel riding

There was a small line for the Camel ride

The ride itself was really basic, the camel guide did not make any photos and the ride was really short, in exchange there were no further lines building up.

Besides the falcon and camels, cats were the only animals here

The Show

Seating is really nice, close to the stage literally there is no space in between.

Although the shows may have been similar in quality, we felt much more involved simply because we were seated right next to the stage.

Starters were a little bit dry but delicious
Unlimited soft drinks but limited selection: 7up and Pepsi
Air conditioning is available at the Henna tent.
Photo with the falcon for 15 AED ( 4 EUR)
The Quality compared to OceanAir was really a step forward

Tanura: The speakers felt slightly lower in quality at the beginning, but this was only noticeable during speech. The music sounded similar in quality and, luckily, came from a more distant source.

Fire shows with 2-2 man.
Main dish is nice with the grill option, chicken lamb and fish

The food selection was a bit more limited, but still totally sufficient. I tend to eat a lot, so I felt slightly rushed during dinner. I wanted to bring more times food. You can but its not self service what contribute to waste less food.

Nice desert and you can always ask for more
Belly Dance show closed the magical evening

Notable return details: The ride back took about an hour, and after such an adrenaline-filled day, I dozed off in the car — full and happily tired. The driving was also more relaxed this time. What I really appreciated about this tour was the lack of pushy upselling. The focus stayed on us the whole time: thrilling activities, amazing photos, and a vibe that felt more like a trip with friends than a commercial tour. No pressure for reviews, no nagging — just freedom and fun. Great value for money, and an especially perfect choice for adrenaline lovers.

The fact that this experience completely energized me despite how tired I was says a lot about how exciting it truly was.

Summary & Review — How Was It and What to Expect?

💡 Tip: At Noble Life, my last-minute bookings incurred a significantly higher price, 40% more, so it's advisable to book this tour at least a few days in advance!

If I were to give a subjective review, it might be more negative. However, I made several mistakes myself:

  1. I didn't book the Dubai Desert Safari well in advance.
  2. I selected the Premium seating and Gourmet Buffet option -which is a questionable value for the 136 AED or 34 EUR price difference per person. I'd rather go for the regular one or pay even more for the VIP package when money doesnt count.
  3. I ordered a medium size shisha to our table for 200AED or 50EUR - what was not significantly better than the complimentary options at other camps
  4. Bought Souvenir at the Quad biking area - a handwritten necklace to my girlfriend, what lost the paint already before i could hand it over to her.

and without these, the tour objectively deserves its place as the fifth on the list. This is precisely why I'm writing this article: to help you avoid these mistakes.

Noble Life positions itself as a "premium" or "VIP" option in the market, however If you book in advance, it won't be more expensive than OceanAir. However what you get for this price at the camp is significantly more:

  • There is a singer to entertain you
  • The Quality of each show is better as well as the sound Quality.
  • The Fire show incomparably better and seats are more comfortable.
  • The Camp itself is more premium, offering great shots for Instagram.

In the camp Noble Life is really shining, where they loose against OceanAir is outside of the camp:

  • At the beginning our guide quiet ignored us
  • At the Quad rental area the merchants are really pushy
  • and we just simply skipped the sandboarding.

So, if you’re someone who really focused on the camp experience and the shows, or loves the VIP treatment this tour is for you!

Hotel Pickup

The driver greeted me right at the entrance, great first impression.
  • Upon booking we received a well- crafted message via WhatsApp. It included the estimated pickup time and a detailed schedule, highlighting important details such as the availability of sandboarding upon request what i didnt realize back then.

Car

The car was quite new and spotless
  • The car was a Nissan Patrol, in excellent condition, although some seats were covered in nylon, which could detract from comfort. The phone chargers were occupied, but I'm sure I could have used one if necessary.

Number of stops/ duration

  • Pickup was accurate at 15:00 and I was the last to be picked up. The two other passengers — a mother and daughter from Ghana, were truly lovely and their presence brightened the entire trip — were already in the car.

Driver Behavior

  • The first interaction with our guide was excellent. He greeted me warmly at the hotel entrance, speaking fluent English without any noticeable accent. Unfortunately the first impression turned very quickly into the opposite.
  • Maybe we were just unlucky, but our guide seemed more focused on other things than on us.
  • He was loudly talking on the phone making it impossible to even talk with the other passengers. This would be unacceptable even from a taxi driver , let alone a tour guide. He was coughing, sniffing, and clearing his throat audibly, with none of the refinement you’d expect from such a premium tour.
  • He seemed knowledgeable but very little to no information was shared, no introduction, no briefing. After around 30 minutes, he finally stopped - by then, I had started guiding the others myself based on what i learned from other guides on previous tours.

First Desert Stop: Quad / Buggy meeting point (1,5 hour)

Vienna... The name set high expectations that reality didn’t match.

We travelled 55 minutes before we arrived at the Vienna Buggy Adventure point at 15:55. Since I work in Vienna, I had hoped for the same level of refinement this city has made me accustomed to but this couldn’t have been further from that.

The place had one of the biggest green area

As the only tourists there, we received full attention from the merchants, who were aggressively pushy in all the wrong ways:

  • Offers were made at 3–4 times more than what they were actually willing to sell for.
  • They didn’t care whether I actually needed the items or not: E.g.: they tried to sell me clothing that was clearly too small, simply because they had no larger sizes in stock.
  • We declined the perfume, yet were approached another 4–5 times.
I ended up buying a small souvenir for my fiancée, from the merchant
  • a necklace with her name in Arabic letters, which already started losing its paint before I could even give it to her a week later. It cost me 10 EUR (40 AED), but they originally asked for 40 EUR (160 AED).
  • The same applied to the quad and buggy offers. Even after we clearly said we weren’t interested and it was only the three of us, we were still made to wait under shaded roofs (air-conditioned rooms were not available). We were told we were waiting for a convoy, which never showed up. In the end, we left the area alone and began dune bashing with just our car.
  • Thanks to my fellow passengers, we still had a great time despite everything listed above. We made so much fun and laughter throughout. Our tour guide, aside from occasionally asking if we had changed our minds about the quad ride, showed little interest in engaging with us.
On the positive side the facilities were nice and hygiene was spotless.

There was:

  • a mini market for traditional clothes, Ghutra, and drinks
  • a separate building with clean restrooms
  • a shadowed rest area with benches and cushions
  • a bar offering ice-cold drinks, snacks, and coffee
  • a small section for perfume and souvenir sellers

What truly reflected the premium side of the company was that they were the only ones who asked for feedback and offered assistance this early in the tour. I gave honest input, saying I had expected more. Not so much for myself, as I’ve experienced many high-quality tours before, but for my new Ghanaian friends, who might only have this one desert adventure in their lives! I genuinely appreciated how quickly they responded and how much the experience improved afterward.

Delays or waiting time

We spent here one hour and besides the first 10 minutes, we can actually call this as waiting time, without other passangers, this could have been really boring.

Quad Ride Experience ( 30 min )

The bike park was in excellent condition

I didn’t participate in the quad ride on this tour, but the bike park was excellent, as usual. Both the quads and buggies were in great condition.

We were offered the following prices:

  • 200 AED (50 EUR) for quads in the fenced area
  • 250 AED (62.5 EUR) for quads in the open desert
  • 800 AED (200 EUR) for buggies in the open desert only

Dune Bashing Experience (12 + 15 minutes thrilling ride)

Driving Style and Safety

Our driver was really skilled and it was clear he could have delivered a more adrenaline-filled ride. But this time, we preferred something milder, and it was great to see how well he adapted to our needs.

On the negative side we had all together around 30 minutes of dune bashing with a 20 minutes photo break. Instead of the promised 45 minutes ride. A small inconvenience was that the tissue box kept falling from the dashboard into my lap multiple times.

Sandboarding

The initial message indicated that sandboarding is available upon request but unlikely to other tours the option was not even offered ( i guess we should have asked proactively for this option) so we skipped it this time.

📸 Photo Stop (17:01 - 17:22, 20 min)

We took photos of each other, as our guide wasn’t particularly proactive about it at this point.

Detailed Breakdown — The Camp after The Safari (3 hours)

The feedback helped, he became more engaged and even took photos at the camp
  • Our guide now paid attention to us, shared interesting information with us, and was keen to entertain us, so the way to the camp really flew by.
  • We arriverd to the camp at 18:12 and already from the Gate it was visible that this is really a premium camp.
  • Already at the entrance next to the registration desk. we were warmly welcomed with some sweet arabic dumplings in traditional clay dishes.
The cozy shaded majils are perfect spot to relax.
  • Traditional seating woven lanterns and soft carpets created an authentic desert atmoshpeere.
  • Along the path charming traditional stalls offered local herbs spices and souvenirs.
Classy and spotless Henna Corner
Wide variety of choice at the Parfum stand
Insta Corner for the best shots
Beautiful camels treated with love
Family-friendly bonus: there's even a playground.

After my short walk around the camp i finally went to take my seat and i was positively surprised:

The premium section on an eleveted teracce

Not the separated area but rather the attention from the staff and their kindness made a significant impact on me.

The regular area has comfortable chairs as well

We started the dinner with some starter and salad.

Excellent quality and an outstanding range of choices.
They made even the bread by hand in an open kitchen

Even though I had a premium ticket, the buffet was self-service. Only the VIP section (one level above premium) had table service and a dedicated menu. The food offered in the premium and basic areas was basically the same, but the buffets were clearly separated, and the presentation was noticeably more refined in the premium section.

From the main dishes buttered chicken was my favourite

Coca-Cola was the only soft drink available, offered alongside unlimited mineral water.

While eating our dinner we were entertained by spectacular shows.

Very energetic and vibrant singer show
  • The singer's performance was outstanding, featuring many dancers and unique since this is the only camp which offers this kind of entertainment. To ensure an enjoyable experience, Noble Camp had much better quality speakers than some other camps.
The presentation of the desserts
  • The desserts were truly delightful, featuring chocolate mousse, candied pumpkin, and baked rice with pistachio, along with a refreshing fruit bowl.
After the desserts we ordered one sisha
  • The Shisha costed 200AED 50 EUR, and was not better than the ones for free in other camps, which left me slightly disappointed. But luckily, the fire show, which started not long after we ordered, compensated us.
With the camels involved this was the most comprehensive fire show

The quality show experience and nice food in this superb area and energetic vibes made us forget the small inconveniences. We made our group photo with our guide together with a big smile on our face.

Return Journey

On the way back, our guide was much better — genuinely interested in us and even asked about my upcoming flight. I’m not sure if the repeated offer of a private transfer was an upsell attempt or a kind gesture, but let’s assume it was the latter. He answered all our questions and shared interesting facts during the ride. The overall vibe in the car was much improved. While there were still some phone calls, they were quieter and more polite this time.

All in all, a huge improvement. If we focus solely on the camp experience, which was truly first class, Noble Life does deserve the premium label. But to secure a long-term spot in the top half of Dubai’s desert safari rankings, they’ll need to refine the entire experience, not just the camp.

Detailed Breakdown — Before the Safari

Hotel Pickup (3:30 am 5 min)

3:30 a.m.  our guide already parked at the hotel.
  • I booked the tour just a few hours before the start, and the team showed exceptional flexibility in making it happen without any issues.
  • They messaged me that pickup would be at 3:30. When I got to the lobby at 3:31, the driver was already there, chatting with the hotel staff.

Car

Very clean and fresh smelling interrior
  • Although the car had many kilometers on it, it was in spotless condition.
  • The only minor annoyance was that, despite cleaning my camera, the city lights looked blurred.
Spectacular city lights, just a bit blurred through the glass.
  • it took me a while to realize it was due to the slightly dusty windshield.

Driver Behavior

Sony, Our driver made a great impression from the very beginning. With over 30 years of experience in hospitality, he carried himself with calm professionalism and a genuine passion for what he does. He was friendly, polite, and always open to questions

what I really appreciated was that if he didn’t immediately understand something, he would ask for clarification rather than pretending to know. His explanations were detailed and informative, showing deep local knowledge without ever being pushy or overly talkative. He also respected personal space. Unlike some drivers who hover or try to force conversations, he struck the perfect balance between being present and giving us room to enjoy the journey.

Number of stops/ duration (4:40 am 10 min)

Our first stop, after a 50-minute drive, was a mosque.
  • The place was full of birds and I'm not sure if it was by chance or something typical of the area.
The mosque had very clean restroom, but only squat toilets.
  • There were no vendor here, and we had to take off our shoes even to use the restroom.

Delays or waiting time (10 min)

We had to wait about 10 minutes for the other cars in our convoy to arrive.

The convoy is complete - time to continue the adventure.

Detailed Breakdown — During The Safari

Dune Bashing Experience

  • As soon as the tyres were deflated we continoud our journey.
  • The tour advertised 10 minutes of dune bashing, but in reality, it was even shorter. It’s clear that dune bashing isn’t the main focus here — and a more intense ride wouldn’t be appropriate in a conservation area anyway.
The first 10 minutes of the off road happaned on a regular ground road

First Desert Stop: Mugathra Area ( from 5-6:30 am 1,5 hours )

  • We quickly arrived to a conservation area where we had already the first wildlife encounters.
Oryx lounging at the feeding site.
  • Following a quick dune bashing session, we arrived at the peak of the highest dune, where a stunning panoramic view awaited us.
Our convoy, alone in the heart of the desert.

Sandboarding (20 min)

  • The sandboarding was well-paced. Gave enough time for everyone to enjoy a ride without dragging on. The dune was smaller, than in the red desert but still fun.
Helpful guides made sandboarding even more fun

Sunrise ( 20 min)

Right after sandboarding, around 5:40 a.m., the sunrise began. We had time to find the perfect spot to capture, while others simply soaked it in quietly with their loved ones.

Breathtaking panorama at sunrise.
  • It wasn’t crowded during sunrise, but once the photos were done, people started gathering to return to the car.
The sunrise experience is really popular
  • As we left the desert, we had another short off-road ride and saw large groups of gazelles along the way. It would have been nice to get closer to them or at least stop for a moment, but unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.
If you have very good eyes you can spot the group of gazellas
  • The ride took about 30 minutes until we arrived to our picnic place.

Detailed Breakdown — After The Safari

Breakfast , Al Qudra Lake (30 min)

Perfect location for a nice breakfast
  • The location was ideal, offering a close-to-nature experience with several water bodies and a variety of birds.
  • On the downside, no cutlery was provided with breakfast, and the very thin blanket laid directly on the sand attracted quite a few ants, felt a bit too minimal.
Pre-packed sandwiches, bakery product and fruits
  • The breakfast was nothing fancy, but perfect for a quick bite during a safari.
Fresh smoothies and Juice on the left. water dates and coffee on the right
  • I really liked the smoothie and juice selection, and of course, bottled water, Arabic coffee, and tea were also available.

Love Lake (10 min)

Flamingos and Black swans at the Love lake
  • We were just 5 minutes away from the famous Love Lake what got its name from its design: two interconnected heart-shaped lakes.
  • Even though the lakes are artificial, the place felt refreshingly natural.
Four ducks in four colors, marching in a line, an unexpected desert sight.
  • The area is rich in wildlife, and this time our driver slowed down so we could take a closer look and snap a few photos. Still, we weren’t allowed to step out of the car, and we definitely would’ve appreciated more time at this peaceful spot.
Flamingos landing and flying above Love Lake
  • That said, this was still one of the most nature-connected safari I’ve experienced.

Return Journey

On the way back, something stood out to me as a cycling enthusiast: we drove alongside a dedicated bike road that stretched for kilometers through the desert. Seemed a great and unique opportunity for cyclists. I felt genuinely refreshed after spending time in such a nature-rich area, though I would’ve loved to stay longer.

Due to the tight schedule, we had to leave on time, but Oriental Tours ensured everyone got back to their hotels punctually. We arrived by 8:00 a.m., which meant in theory, I could still catch my hotel breakfast — but I was already full. It was nice to have the whole day ahead of me, feeling both energized and grounded from the early desert experience.

🧭 How I Evaluated the Tours

A desert safari is a complex experience. To compare them fairly, I built a structured evaluation framework based on what truly matters to guests and what companies can actively control. Find them in order below:

🥇 What matters most to guests & what companies can actively influence:

  • ⚖️ Price vs. Value
Beyond the number, I looked at what you truly get for your money
  • 💬 Driver / Guide
They say a company is only as good as its people. That’s why the driver or guide had a major impact on my evaluation. Communication, punctuality, flexibility, friendliness, informative , caring, attentive, determined)
  • 🌐 Customer Reviews
I factored in review volume and rating quality from GetYourGuide, Viator, and TripAdvisor—especially 5⭐️ praise and 1–2⭐️ concern and longer value added review -these often highlights key strengths and weaknesses.
  • 💰 Price
Most people travels on budget so we simply want the best deal. That’s why I noted the actual cost, potential hidden fees, and how competitive it is in its category.
  • 🧭 Activities included and their quality of execution – from instructor professionalism trough safety to equipment and animal care
  •  🚗 Vehicle quality and comfort - you spend around 3 hours in the car (travel time + dune bashing ) so this is oneof the key aspects.
  • 🏕️ Camp quality – hygiene, layout, staff, and extra activities. After the car you spend the most time here.
  • 📍 Desert meeting point quality – cleanliness, staff, safety setup. The first place where you arrive important impressions and major part of the experience.
  • 🍽️ Food quality and taste
  • 🔒 Safety standards – briefings, attentiveness, gear
  • 🎤 Show quality – stage, sound, lighting, interaction
  • 📸 Photo/video friendliness
  •  🧩 Tour organization – structure, timing, and flow
  •  📲 Company communication – before, during, and after the tour
  • ⏱️ Flexibility and punctuality
  • 🎭 Cultural authenticity – does it feel real or staged?

🧡 Additional value-adding aspects:

  • 👥 Group size and dynamics
  • Clarity of expectations vs reality
  • 🌱 Environmental and cultural responsibility
  • 🎁 Post-tour extras – photos, thank-you notes, perks

🕊️ Factors with limited company influence (but still noted):

  • 🧼 Group behavior
  • 🌅 Weather & lighting
  • 🏜️ Natural terrain conditions

🏙️➡️🏜️Itinerary from the city to the desert

Unfortunately, not all tour guides are the same, and it's possible that some might not take the time to explain these sights. If this happens to you during your safari, I’ve put together a brief summary of things that might be interesting along the way as we travel from the city to the desert:

  • Downtown (if you're lucky) 🌆
  • Outlet 🛍️
  • Trash mountain 🗑️
  • Global Village 🌍
  • Silicon Central 💻
  • Dragon Market 🐉
  • Camel Racing Area 🐪🏁

Decode Your Desert Safari 🌵

Morning vs. Evening Safaris 🌅🌙

  • Morning safaris typically last around 4 hours, and include activities like camel riding, quad biking, and dune bashing.
Options like dance shows, fire shows, singers, henna, shisha, and dinner are only available on the evening safaris, which usually last about 7 hours
  • Evening safaris last about 7 hours, and in addition to everything included in the morning safari, you’ll also get the desert camp experience, a BBQ dinner, and a full experience with activities like henna, shisha, and live shows.
  • Sunrise safaris start well before dawn, offering a truly magical experience as you watch the sunrise over the desert. These safaris usually include a light breakfast as well and you can experience wildlife from closer.

Private vs. Shared Safaris 🚗💨

  • Private safaris are ideal for families, groups of friends, or romantic getaways (honeymoons), offering a customizable and intimate experience.
  • Shared safaris are more budget-friendly and perfect for solo travelers or those who enjoy the company of others.
Pro tip: Book through GetYourGuide for a smooth experience, as many guides handle these bookings separately.

Quad Safari vs. Quad Biking During a Safari 🏍️🌵

  • Quad safari refers to the full off-road adventure, where you drive the quad through the desert during the whole safari typically 1-2 hours.
  • Quad biking during a safari typically happens during a break as part of a larger desert experience typically 0,5-1 hours.

Quad Biking in the Open Desert vs. Meeting Point Area 🏍️🌵

  • Open Desert Quad Biking: This experience takes you across the vast, open desert with real dunes to conquer. It offers a true adventure where you can feel the thrill of riding on wild terrain with no fences or restrictions—perfect for those looking for an authentic desert experience.
  • Quad Biking at Meeting Point Area: While this is also a sand-filled experience, it takes place within a fenced-off area. Although it’s large and offers a fun ride, you won’t encounter real dunes or the same expansive desert feel as in the open desert. However, it still provides an exciting quad biking experience and is a great option if you're looking for a more controlled environment.

Camel Safari vs. Riding a Camel During the Safari 🐪

  • A camel safari is a more in-depth experience where you travel across the desert on a camel typically a few hours long.
  • Riding a camel is usually just a short, scenic ride as part of your desert excursion. typiclly 1-5 minutes.

White Sand vs. Red Sand Deserts 🏜️

  • White sand desert offers brighter dunes and a more open landscape. This desert is closer to Dubai and feature smaller dunes.
  • Red sand desert the big player with taller, more rolling dunes. Most tour companies organize their safaris in the red sand deserts due to their iconic landscape and overall experience.

VIP or Premium Experiences 💎✨

  • In most cases, VIP is essentially an upgrade from Premium, with companies referring to them as such.

Pickup vs Safari car 🚗

All the tours I tested use the same comfy car for pickup & desert ride — perfectly suited for both city roads and desert terrain.💎 Top-tier companies sometimes offer separate city & dune vehicles for extra comfort.

Standard Features Across Safaris ⭐

These are the elements that remain fairly consistent across most desert safaris, such as camel rides, sandboarding, and hotel pickup. Because they don’t vary much from tour to tour, I won’t go into detail every time—only when something stands out as significantly better or worse than the norm.

  • Hospitality in Dubai 🌟:Dubai’s hospitality is world-renowned, and the level of service you receive is unmatched. The government even has a dedicated tourist police force, whose slogan is "Always on your side," and they live by it based on what I’ve heard. This sense of care, kindness, and attention to detail permeates the entire city—from hotels to the desert safaris.
  • Vehicles 🚗:
All vehicles meet the 6-year age limit and are driven by guides with desert driving licenses. There are no significant differences between vehicles, as all do their job well. However, you may notice some variation in suspension, cleanliness, and engine strength, which will be detailed in individual reviews. Standard features are:
    • 🔌 USB outlets are available with cable
    • ❄️ Ice-cold air conditioning throughout the ride
    • 📶 Wi-Fi access via the guide’s shared mobile hotspot
    • 🧼 Spotlessly clean car (in Dubai by the law)
    • 💺 Comfortable seating throughout the journey (only 2person in the back)

This is the definition of term1.

🔙 Go back where you left
  • Hotel Pickup 🏨🚖:
All tested safaris included hotel pickup, but the timeliness and quality of the service varied. I’ll provide more detailed feedback in the reviews.
  • Traditional Clothing & Ghutra 👕👒:
Ghutra (traditional headwear) costs around 50 AED per piece. Haggling is common, especially for items like these.
The starting price of 300 AED seems a bit steep for the quality, but with some negotiation, you can likely get it for 100 AED or even less.
  • Personalized Name Jewelry 💍:
Personalized name jewelry is a popular souvenir. If someone approaches you with a pen/pencil, it’s likely they’ll ask for your name (or your loved one’s). This service is free, but if you choose to buy a piece, it’s usually priced around 40 AED (about 10 EUR). I even bought one as a surprise for my fiancée! Spoiler alert the Quality is questionable.
  • Perfumes 🧴:
Dubai perfumes are a major attraction. You'll find perfume vendors at desert meeting points (where the quad biking happens) and at camps. They’ll demonstrate the alcohol-free oils and may even try to light the perfume to show its safety (this will always fail, as these oils are non-flammable).
  • Falcon Photos 🦅📸:
Falcon photos are a popular extra on many safaris. While some companies (like Funtours) include them in their package, others charge around 10-20 AED (approximately 2.5-5 EUR). The main benefit of having the photo in the open desert is that you get a ready-to-go desert background, without needing to Photoshop it yourself 😀 .

Money-Saving Tips 💸

  • Cash vs. Cards 💵:
In Dubai, cash is preferred, and card payments may incur a 10-20% surcharge. This seems more like a negotiation tactic than a real fee, so it’s best to either negotiate the surcharge or carry cash to avoid it.
  • Book in Advance 📅:
Extras like quad biking, buggy rides, and dinner add-ons are often 100-400% more expensive if booked on-site. For the best value, always book the full package in advance.

Additional Safari Highlights 🌟

  • Camel Riding 🐪:
Camel rides are complimentary and can be repeated on all safaris, typically lasting 50-70 meters. The experience largely depends on the guides' helpfulness and organization.
  • Sandboarding 🏄‍♂️:
Sandboarding is a free activity on all safaris. The boards are all similar, and guides ensure they’re waxed for smoother rides. The most important factor is the guide’s attention, making the experience enjoyable.
  • Queueing ⏳:
I didn’t experience long queues on any of the safaris I tested, as I traveled during the off-season (May). During peak season, this could change. Any exceptions will be mentioned in the detailed breakdown, such as Nobel Life or Ammar Tours.
  • What to bring:
    • 👟 Comfortable shoes
    • 🕶️ Sunglasses
    • 👒 Sun hat
    • 📸 Camera
    • ☀️ Sunscreen
  • Not allowed:
    • 🐾 Pets
    • 🧳 Luggage or large bags
    • 👡 Open-toed shoes
    • 👶 Unaccompanied minors
  • Why safaris inflate and deflate tyres?
    • Completely deflated tires (typically reduced to 12–15 PSI) improve performance and safety during desert safaris by:
      • Increasing surface area: Creates more tire contact with the sand, improving grip and reducing the risk of sinking.
      • Enhancing traction: Helps the vehicle climb dunes and navigate soft terrain more smoothly.
      • Smoothing the ride: Softer tires absorb shocks better, making dune bashing more comfortable.
They’re re-inflated after the desert to prevent damage on paved roads.

Excursion Point vs Ocean Air

Excursion Point uses a private quad rental place (while some smaller companies doesn't have their own, so the quality can vary) , which is located a bit further down the road with compared to providers like OceanAir Travels whose meeting point is among the first.
